Fall table runner for the holidays

This table runner is made from two decorative dish towels and a piece of contrasting fabric.  This is a quick and easy project that can be made from any linen dish towel.

  • two decorative linen dish towels
  • one small piece of contrasting fabric for center
  • decorative ribbon (optional)

Step 1.

Open out the end of each dish towel on the end that will be stitched to the middle section. Cut a piece of contrast fabric that is the same width as the dish towels  Turn under a hem on each end making sure the middle piece is the same width as the dish towels when hemmed.  Pin the edges and then stitch.

Step 2.

Pin the dish towels to the middle piece of contrast fabric. Stitch. Turn under the edges of each seam and then hand stitch as shown. This will be the underside of the table runner.

Step 3.

Center ribbon over the seams and stitch as shown.

About Elaine Kazinec

I have never met anyone who can't make wonderful things for their homes, friends, and family, only those who think they can't. The purpose of this blog is to show everyone how really simple most projects for the home are to make. When my husband and I bought our first home we were short on cash so I learned to be long on creativity. I have been told that I can make something wonderful out of nothing and that is true. You can too! Some of my favorite things are items that I found in someone's junk pile. I am going to show you how easy it really is. I hope you find the courage to jump in and attempt some of these projects. You will be amazed at how talented you really are.
