Crow in a clay pot.

This is an easy project that is also very inexpensive to make. It would make a great centerpiece for a Halloween gathering.

Materials:

  • 1 clay pot
  • a piece of wire about 12″ long.
  • a small piece of canvas fabric
  • moss
  • black paint
  • stencil and stencil brush

Step 1.

Cut out two of crow pattern.

Step 2.

Stitch around crow using a 1/4″ seam allowance and leave a small opening at the bottom for stuffing and to insert the wire “legs.”

Step 3.

Fill crow with stuffing using the hole you left open.

Step 4.

Bend your piece of 12″ wire in half as shown. Stick the rounded part inside the crow and stitch into place by hand.

Step 5.

Paint crow black with craft paint. Set aside to dry.

Step 6.

Paint clay pot black as shown.

Step 7.

I stenciled “Old Crow Inn” on mine but you can put whatever you want.

Step 8.

Cut a piece of foam big enough to fit tightly in the clay pot. Use a little hot glue to secure it in the pot and then glue some moss on top as shown.

Step 9.

Stick the wire legs into the florist brick.

About Elaine Kazinec

I have never met anyone who can't make wonderful things for their homes, friends, and family, only those who think they can't. The purpose of this blog is to show everyone how really simple most projects for the home are to make. When my husband and I bought our first home we were short on cash so I learned to be long on creativity. I have been told that I can make something wonderful out of nothing and that is true. You can too! Some of my favorite things are items that I found in someone's junk pile. I am going to show you how easy it really is. I hope you find the courage to jump in and attempt some of these projects. You will be amazed at how talented you really are.
