crows in a nest with lights crows nest

I made this crows nest from moss and a plastic flower pot.   I got a bunch of crows from the Dollar Store so this was really inexpensive. I am  using crows all over the house this year and am having a lot of fun with it.

Materials:

  • plastic flower pot
  • moss
  • crows (Mine are from the Dollar Store)

black plastic pot stick some moss into pot press down in center to make nest

Step 1.

Take a big bunch of moss and press it down into the pot. Push it down in the center to make the shape of a nest.

add a crow to top of pot add a second crow to bottom add a third crow

Step 2.

I hot glued the first crow on the rim of the pot. I added a second crow to the top and then put one more at the base of the pot as shown.

I found these great black acorns

Step 3.

I found these great black acorns out in the woods by my house so I put them in the nest.

  1. I love this idea! My crafty project last Halloween was one of those “upside-down hanging mummies” that can cost around $60 in a party store. I used Black garbage bags filled with recylables (a Plasic gallon-sized millk jug for the head, two coffee cans for the shoulders, and crumpled newspapers for filling in the body. Tied them together with clear shipping tape I had, and bought dollar-store spider web and sheese cloth to wrap him with. Finishing touch? A dollar- bag of plastic spiders crawling all over. Total cost: $10ish.
