Crafts for the Home – Decorative Dish Towel – Easy Project

These decorative dish towel are so easy to make and can be done in many different ways. I bought these waffle towels in a 2 pack at Wal Mart for about three dollars. I will make a different style towel every once in awhile just to show you how much fun you can have with this project. They make great gifts!

Material:

  • dish towel
  • fabric remnant
  • wooden buttons
  • embroidery thread

Cut a 6 inch wide piece of fabric that is about 1 inch longer than the bottom edge of the dish towel.

Pin the right side of towel to the right side of fabric strip. Stitch together using a 5/8 inch seam allowance.

Press under 5/8 of an inch on the bottom edge of fabric.

Turn fabric putting right sides together stitching ends together.

Turn fabric and press.

Stitch together about 1/2 inch from towel as shown in illustration.

Finish by adding buttons.

About Elaine Kazinec

I have never met anyone who can't make wonderful things for their homes, friends, and family, only those who think they can't. The purpose of this blog is to show everyone how really simple most projects for the home are to make. When my husband and I bought our first home we were short on cash so I learned to be long on creativity. I have been told that I can make something wonderful out of nothing and that is true. You can too! Some of my favorite things are items that I found in someone's junk pile. I am going to show you how easy it really is. I hope you find the courage to jump in and attempt some of these projects. You will be amazed at how talented you really are.
